Encouragements
We are so happy and encouraged that you share our heartfelt desire to promote peace to Burundi , in the Continent of Africa, and the World, through sharing compassion in action and caring for one another.
Your generous donation enabled us to complete 475 of the 800 homes that we are building in Carama location and start building a primary school in Cibitoke Province . The funds to build the school are being raised by Liz Clibourne, Founder and Director of Every Child and Village, in USA . The construction of this school building is moving slowly, due to the lack of the availability of funds for this project; but with your help, there is a hope to make progress.
The completion of 475 homes, allowed 475 families, totaling around 3,500 people (men, women and children) to be sheltered and live in their own homes. Each one of the families living in those homes, are very thankful to each of those who have been making different contributions that allowed them to get homes, where they live today.
Besides the Carama home building and the school building projects, we plan to build a Street Children Rehabilitation Home, for street children and orphans of War and Aids. The funds to build this home, are being raised by Foundation Plan Afrika, based in The Netherlands/Holland and progress in this fundraising is being made. This project will cost us around USD 225,000.
God willing, we plan to complete the Carama homebuilding and School building Projects by August 2008. To complete the remaining houses of the 800 homes to be built in Carama; thus 325 houses; put cement on the 800 homes to protect them from rain water; build 500 latrines; complete the school which is now under construction, we need around USD464,000.
To build a house that accommodates 7 to 10 people costs USD987, and a latrine costs USD85. Donation of any amount will very quickly help a Burundian family build and move into their home. To know more about the work that we are doing in Burundi , please visit our website: www.jrmd.org
